Dr. med. Petr Spurek – Medical Director

Dr. Petr Spurek was born 1965 in the Czech Republic and has both Czech and German nationality.

He started his university studies 1987 in Budapest (Hungary) and continued at the universities in Würzburg (Germany) and Prague (Czech Republic) until 1995.

In 1998 he completed his thesis on “short term results of arthroscopic replacement of the anterior cruciate ligament with middle third patellar tendon” and qualified CUM LAUDE.

During his postgraduate education in orthopedic surgery and traumatology he trained in various hospitals including the Charles University of Prague, the University Hospital Carlos Haya in Málaga (Spain) and the Hessing-Clinic II in Augsburg (Germany). From 2002 until 2005 he has been the assistant medical director of the department of foot and ankle surgery at the Hessingpark-Clinic in Augsburg (Germany).

Since 2003, Dr. Spurek has participated at international congresses, instructional courses and workshops throughout Europe as the invited lecturer and teaching professor for foot and ankle surgery.

In 2004 he received a highly acclaimed fellowship from the Foot and Ankle Centre under Professor Pisani in Torino (Italy).

Since 2006 he has been a member of the council of the Czech Foot and Ankle Society.

From January 2006 until August 2009 he was responsible for the Foot and Ankle Surgery and Sports medicine departments at the Hospital International Xanit in Benalmádena (Spain).

Since June 2007 he has been the medical director of the Foot & Sports Clinic Marbella (Spain).

At the end of 2013 Foot & Sports Clinic Marbella was designated a European reference competence centre by Wright Medical USA thanks to the experience of Dr. Spurek in the field of foot and ankle surgery. As a certified healthcare consultant, Dr. Spurek holds regular lectures on foot and ankle surgery at international congresses, leads surgical workshops and performs live operations for future surgeons, for training and demonstration purposes, throughout Europe.

Dr. Spurek speaks fluent Czech, German (native languages) and English and also a high level of Spanish.
